Postcards from the Economic Apocalypse

"If government is "for the people", then it needs to do its job. And in case anyone in the government has forgotten why they went to Washington, I will give you a news flash – your real job isn’t to feed us when we are on the bread lines, but to keep us off of them in the first place."

  1. It's not just "for the People". It is also "by the People" and "of the People." A stupid and craven electorate gets and deserves stupid and craven politicians.

  2. That strikes me as unproductive, non useful snarkiness on the right. When the electorate votes in conservatives, they are a smart, center right nation. But when the electorate rejects that because it hasn't been working, they all become craven and stupid. Its a schizo type of outlook that extolls the virtue of America then turns around and derides it.

  3. If it sounded like this was specifically about Obama, then I worded it poorly. We've been electing scumbags -- and REELECTING -- like Bridge to Nowhere Stevens, Grand Klegle Byrd and Cold Cash Jefferson for a long, long time.

Obama hasn't done anything yet to mark him as stupid or craven. The long list is scoundrels -- don't let me forget Rangel and Lott and Murtha while I'm at it -- are who I am referring to. And they infest both sides of aisle.

  4. Completely agree with you on the election of scoundrels, though scumbags seem a bit extreme for people who are simply crooks. We are indeed as an electorate guilty on that score.

  5. We have allowed ourselves to become so weak due to not educating ourselves to how our country works. It's not us in the blogsphere as its obvious we all have a love for our country and its inner workings, yet the vast majority have put themselves at the mercy of the politicians rather than the other way around.
